Natural Habitat
- Native to South Africa’s Eastern Cape region, particularly the Transkei area
- Found in coastal grasslands and pastures near cattle grazing areas
- Climate: Warm subtropical with seasonal rainfall (60-80°F)
- Naturally occurs in nutrient-rich soils during wet seasons
Microscopic Features
- Color: Dark purple-black spores
- Shape: Ellipsoid to subellipsoid
- Size: 11-14 micrometers in length
- Structure: Smooth-walled with thick outer layer
- Notable feature: Distinct germ pore
- Best viewed at 400x-1000x magnification
