Natural Habitat
- Native to Nepal’s Chitwan province, a lowland area known for its subtropical forests and grasslands
- Originally discovered by a mycologist John W. Allen
- Thrives in humid conditions with temperatures ranging from 20-28°C (68-82°F)
Observable Features
- Spore prints display a characteristic deep purple-black coloration
- Individual spores measure 11-15 x 7-9 micrometers
- Shows distinct geographic variations from other South Asian specimens
Microscopic Characteristics
- Ellipsoid-shaped spores with smooth outer walls
- Appears deep violet-brown under transmitted light
- Features a slightly offset germ pore visible at 1000x magnification
