What is Panaeolus cambodginiensis ‘Sandose’ Strain?
The Panaeolus Cambodginiensis ‘Sandose’ strain is a unique variant of the Panaeolus Cambodginiensis mushroom species. It has gained popularity due to its stability and ease of observation compared to other strains like the Goliath. Notably, this strain is macroscopically identical to the Panaeolus bispora and thrives in similar environments. These mushrooms are typically found in grassy pastures, growing on the dung of water buffalo, cattle, and horses in tropical and subtropical climates. However, they have also been reported in other environments.
This strain is highly domesticated and stable with low genetic variability. Previously considered a strain of Panaeolus tropicalis, this collection is better viewed as Panaeolus cambodginiensis. The documentation of the various Panaeolus species contains conflicting information, which initially misled staff on this particular collection. Panaeolus tropicalis and Panaeolus cambodginiensis have similar-sized spores and are easily confused.

Cap:
- 10-25 (29) mm in diameter
- Pins brown to very dark brown maturing to grey-brown, often darker in the center
- Occasionally observed with a scalloped margin
Stem: 80-100 mm long by 1.5-3 mm thick
Gills: Adnexed with 3 to 4 tiers of intermediate gills
Spores:
- 11-13 microns
- Black in deposit
- Somewhat transparent under magnification
- 4-spored with the occasional 2-spored basidium

Usage
- Prepare the work area: Before you begin, ensure your workspace is clean and sanitized. You will need a clean surface to rest the syringe on and safe disposal for any used materials.
- Handle the syringe with care to avoid any accidental spills or contamination.
- Prepare the solution: Open the mushroom liquid culture syringe and ensure the aqueous solution is clear, other than the mycelium. If the aqueous solution is cloudy, discard it and start with a new one.
- Prepare a microscopy slide or sanitize the area to be penetrated by the dispensing needle.
- Dispense a small amount of the solution onto a microscopy slide, or inject 1 milliliter into the container you will use through a self-healing injection port.
Tips and Tricks for successful usage:
- Always be as clean as possible.
- Wear clean clothing.
- Practice good oral hygiene.
- Wear new gloves every time.
- Wipe all surfaces, including gloves, with disinfectant.
- Do not introduce un-sanitized items into a sanitized work area.
Shelf Life & Storage
Liquid Culture syringes have a shelf life of approximately three months before the nutrient broth becomes depleted of nutrients. Therefore, you must either use the LC before three months or transfer the mycelium in the syringe to a new and sterile medium with fresh nutrients.

- We cannot offer refunds for packages damaged during transit. However, we will file a claim with the carrier's insurance and send a replacement order.
2. Contamination:
- Our production utilizes a professional-grade laminar flow HEPA flowhood with a 12" thick filter, filtering to 0.02 microns. Therefore, contamination is highly unlikely to originate from our end.
- To claim contamination, test the spores or liquid culture on agar and provide photographs showing our company name and the date. Also include pictures and descriptions of your equipment, again with our company name in the picture for verification puposes
- We do not cover contaminated grain or third-party grow kits. Our warranty does not extend to customer errors in substrate preparation or third-party vendor issues.
3. Viability:
- All batches are tested for viability prior to dispatch.
- Non-viability is often due to mishandling post-delivery. Please bring your orders inside within 10 minutes of delivery.
- If you cannot be home for delivery, arrange for an indoor PO BOX or similar for safe delivery.
- Do not store your items in the refrigerator. It can become too cold. Room temperature is optimal.
- Thick Spores is not liable for customer negligence.
- For extreme climates, consider our next day air shipping option.
- If carrier mishandling (e.g., delays or lost orders) results in viability issues, we may replace the order at our discretion and a fee may be required.
