Description
Overview of Psilocybe Natalensis Liquid Culture
The Psilocybe Natalensis Liquid Culture Syringe, or LC, is perfect for your home mushroom research. This easy-to-use syringe is pre-filled with a living mycelium suspended in a nutrient broth of the famous Psilocybe Natalensis mushroom strain, so you can begin researching the mushrooms immediately! In addition, our liquid culture syringes are made from high-end isolations that will speed your research efforts up to speed much faster than our spores!
Product Volume: 10 Milliliters
Ingredients: Thick Spores brand mushroom liquid culture syringes are made with 100% natural and non-toxic ingredients.
Culture media: Extra Light Malt Extract or Potato Dextrose for maximum shelf life and protection from senescence.
What is the Psilocybe Natalensis mushroom?
Habitat and Origin
- Habitat: Grassland and Enriched Soils
- Climate: Subtropical
- Strain Origin: Natal, South Africa
Morphology
- Cap: The cap is 25 mm in diameter at maximum, starting as obtusely conic and expanding to broadly convex as it ages. The coloration is yellowish towards the disc and generally whitish overall. The cap may show a bluish tinge along the margin and has a surface that ranges from smooth to irregular.
- Stem: The stem measures 40-120 mm in length and 2-10 mm in thickness. It appears silky white and smooth and can be straight or curved, enlarging near the base. The stem is prone to bruising a bluish green, particularly near the base when injured. The partial veil is scant to absent and does not leave behind veil remnants.
- Gills: The gill attachment is bluntly adnate to subdecurrent as the mushroom ages. Initially buff in color, the gills turn to a dark purplish brown with white margins.
- Spores: Spores are dark purplish brown, broadly ellipsoid, measuring 13 by 8 micrometers on 4-spored basidia, though variations with 1, 2, and 3-spored basidia have been observed.
Potency and Effects
While there is no detailed scientific analysis provided in the descriptions, the effects of Psilocybe natalensis are highlighted based on personal experiences. Users have reported the effects to be highly euphoric and spiritual, likening the experience to a clean acid trip. Some have noted a unique aspect of the Psilocybe natalensis experience, including sporadic memory lapses or difficulty retaining certain aspects of the trip.
The mushroom is described as being vigorous in its growth, with a quick pace of development noted. Cultivators have reported a tendency for smaller fruits but with a satisfactory yield. The resilience of the strain against common cultivation issues such as overlay is highlighted, though this is presented as anecdotal and may vary.
Usage
- Prepare the work area: Before you begin, ensure your workspace is clean and sanitized. You will need a clean surface to rest the syringe on and safe disposal for any used materials.
- Handle the syringe with care to avoid any accidental spills or contamination.
- Prepare the solution: Open the mushroom liquid culture syringe and ensure the aqueous solution is clear, other than the mycelium. If the aqueous solution is cloudy, discard it and start with a new one.
- Prepare a microscopy slide or sanitize the area to be penetrated by the dispensing needle
- Dispense a small amount of the solution onto a microscopy slide, or inject 1 milliliter into the container you will use through a self-healing injection port.
Tips and Tricks for successful usage:
- Always be as clean as possible.
- Wear clean clothing.
- Practice good oral hygiene.
- Wear new gloves every time.
- Wipe all surfaces, including gloves, with disinfectant.
- Do not introduce un-sanitized items into a sanitized work area.
Advantages of a liquid culture syringe over a spore syringe
A liquid culture syringe has a significant advantage over a spore syringe in terms of the time you do not have to wait for germination. A liquid culture syringe will save you weeks to months in your endeavor. Another advantage is that liquid cultures can be advanced genetic isolates that can outperform spores. Thick Spores sells only genetically isolated LC.
Shelf Life & Storage
Liquid Culture syringes have a shelf life of approximately three months before the nutrient broth becomes depleted of nutrients. Therefore, you must either use the LC before three months or transfer the mycelium in the syringe to a new and sterile medium with fresh nutrients.

Inoculated in an AIO bag, started colonizing great, then I dumped it into a tub, for science, so if it makes it through that I’ll be impressed.
